Red Zinnias
Red Zinnias
The red cloth in this work is from the Native Southwest and its vivid color was a natural underscore to the same vivid red of the flowers. The three pitchers are the contrasting group, in that they form reflections from three different surfaces. The ribbed glass is the roundest of the three, and the silver reflections and the smooth glass reflections play off the same shape with different colors. The study of reflections is a theme watercolorists cannot resist, as it brings out a challenge to the skill of seeing in multi dimensions.
