Pink Tulip
Pink Tulip
Mary Lou's travels to the west of the USA have been inspiration for many paintings. This is from the Skagit Valley in Washington, home to the vast farms of tulip and daffodil growers. This was one in a field covering hundreds of acres. The enlarged image captures the emotion of standing next to over a million tulips. The fields are organized by color, so acres of pink tulips are next to miles of red tulips, next to a vast crop of purple tulips. This painting is one of her most beloved. The detail in the petals is flawless. The light is captured as it travels through the fragile layers of single and double petals overlapping.
