Grape Kaleidoscope
Grape Kaleidoscope
Mary Lou lives in wine country, in a region called the Ozark Highlands. Vineyards surround the town to the north and east. Wineries, wine making and grape harvesting are deep in our heritage. Using grapes fresh from a friend's vineyards, this painting forms the elegant shapes of concord grapes and grape leaves into a garland that becomes a kaleidoscope. The artist does the fracturing of the design, by drawing an eighth measure of the drawing and copying it, using tracing paper and pencil, to complete the circle. The result is an abstraction of the shapes and concentric circles of the purple and green.
