The glass beads are of microscopic size, and make an illustration of an experimental process in microbiology for Cancer research. The painting was done for a show which asked local artists to take a theme from certain areas of research that are currently being studied at Missouri School of Science and Technology. The artist was inspired by the element of water and the use of glass, a frequent subject of her work.
